निरंकार है ज्योति तुम्हारी । तिहूँ लोक फैली उजियारी ॥

Nirankaar Hai Jyoti Tumhaari. Tihun Lok Phaili Ujiyaari.

Your divine light is formless and infinite. That radiance spreads and illuminates all three worlds.


Verse 2

शशि ललाट मुख महाविशाला । नेत्र लाल भृकुटि विकराला ॥

Shashi Lalaat Mukh Mahavishala. Netra Lal Bhrikuti Vikraala.

The moon shines on your vast and magnificent face. Your eyes are red, your brows are fierce and terrible.


Verse 3

रूप मातु का अधिक सुहावे । दरश करत जन अति सुख पावे ॥

Roop Matu Ka Adhik Suhaave. Darash Karat Jan Ati Sukh Paave.

The Mother’s form is supremely beautiful. Those who behold your vision receive the greatest happiness.


Verse 4

तुम संसार शक्ति लय कीना । पालन हेतु अन्न धन दीना ॥

Tum Sansar Shakti Lay Keena. Palan Hetu Ann Dhan Deena.

You are the power by which the world is sustained. For the nourishment of all, you give food and wealth.


Verse 5

अन्नपूर्णा हुई जग पाला । तुम ही आदि सुन्दरी बाला ॥

Annapurna Hui Jag Paala. Tum Hi Aadi Sundari Baala.

As Annapurna (Goddess of Food) you nourish the world. You are the primordial beautiful young maiden.


Verse 6

प्रलयकाल सब नाशन हारी । तुम गौरी शिवशंकर प्यारी ॥

Pralaykal Sab Nashan Haari. Tum Gauri Shivshankar Pyaari.

At the time of dissolution you destroy everything. You are Gauri, the beloved of Shivshankar.


Verse 7

शिव योगी तुम्हरे गुण गावें । ब्रह्मा विष्णु तुम्हें नित ध्यावें ॥

Shiv Yogi Tumhre Gun Gaaven. Brahma Vishnu Tumhen Nit Dhyaaven.

Shiva, the great yogi, sings your virtues. Brahma and Vishnu meditate on you daily.


Verse 8

रूप सरस्वती का तुम धारा । दे सुबुद्धि ऋषि मुनिन उबारा ॥

Roop Saraswati Ka Tum Dhara. De Subuddhi Rishi Munin Ubaara.

You assumed the form of Saraswati and saved the sages and seers by giving them divine intelligence.


Verse 9

धर्म के आड़े हो तुम पाला । जब जब आदि अनादि निराला ॥

Dharm Ke Aade Ho Tum Paala. Jab Jab Aadi Anaadi Niraala.

Whenever dharma has been threatened, you have appeared to protect it — beginningless and beyond all beginnings.


Verse 10

जोगी सुर मुनि कहत पुकारी । योग न हो बिन शक्ति तुम्हारी ॥

Jogi Sur Muni Kahat Pukari. Yog Na Ho Bin Shakti Tumhaari.

Yogis, gods, and sages all proclaim: no yoga is possible without your Shakti.


Verse 11

शंकर आचारज तप कीनो । काम अरु क्रोध जीत लिव लीनो ॥

Shankar Acharaj Tap Keeno. Kaam Aru Krodh Jeet Liv Leeno.

Shankaracharya performed austerities and conquered desire and anger — yet even he needed your grace.


Verse 12

निशिदिन ध्यान धरो शंकर को । काहु काल नहीं सुमिरो तुमको ॥

Nishidin Dhyan Dharo Shankar Ko. Kahu Kaal Nahin Sumiro Tumko.

He meditated on Shankara day and night yet never remembered you, O Goddess.


Verse 13

शक्ति रूप का मरम न पाया । शक्ति गई तब मन पछताया ॥

Shakti Roop Ka Maram Na Paaya. Shakti Gai Tab Man Pachhtaaya.

He did not understand the mystery of your form as Shakti. When his power left him, then his mind repented.


Verse 14

शरणागत हुई कीर्ति बखानी । जय जय जय जगदम्ब भवानी ॥

Sharanagat Hui Kirti Bakhaani. Jai Jai Jai Jagdamb Bhavaani.

He surrendered to you and praised your glory: Victory, victory, victory to Jagadamba Bhavani!


Verse 15

भई प्रसन्न आदि जगदम्बा । दई शक्ति नहीं कीन विलम्बा ॥

Bhai Prasann Aadi Jagdamba. Dai Shakti Nahin Keen Vilamba.

The primordial Jagadamba (Mother of the Universe) was pleased. She gave him back his power without delay.


Verse 16

मोको मातु कष्ट अति घेरो । तुम बिन कौन हरे दुख मेरो ॥

Moko Matu Kasht Ati Ghero. Tum Bin Kaun Hare Dukh Mero.

O Mother, troubles surround me greatly. Without you, who will remove my sorrow?


Verse 17

आशा तृष्णा निपट सतावें । मोह मदादिक सब बिनसावें ॥

Aasha Trishna Nipat Sataaven. Moh Madaadik Sab Binsaaven.

Hope and craving torment me constantly. May you destroy all delusion, pride, and other faults.


Verse 18

शत्रु नाश कीजे महारानी । सुमिरौ इकचित तुम्हें भवानी ॥

Shatru Naash Keeje Maharani. Sumirou Ikchhit Tumhen Bhavaani.

Destroy my enemies, O Great Queen! I remember you with single-pointed mind, O Bhavani.


Verse 19

करो कृपा हे मातु दयाला । ऋद्धि सिद्धि दे करहु निहाला ॥

Karo Kripa He Matu Dayala. Riddhi Siddhi De Karahu Nihaala.

Show your grace, O compassionate Mother! Grant riddhi (prosperity) and siddhi (spiritual powers) and fill me with delight.


Verse 20

जब लगि जिऊँ दया फल पाऊँ । तुम्हरो यश मैं सदा सुनाऊँ ॥

Jab Lagi Jiun Daya Phal Paun. Tumhro Yash Main Sada Sunaun.
