Commentary

After warning in 18:67 about those who should not receive this teaching, Krishna now celebrates those who share it with the right audience. Teaching the Gita to sincere devotees is itself the highest act of devotion.

The Supreme Form of Bhakti

Krishna declares that explaining this confidential knowledge among devotees constitutes paraam bhaktim — supreme devotion. This elevates the act of teaching and sharing sacred wisdom to the highest spiritual practice. It is not merely an intellectual activity but an act of love — both toward God and toward the souls who receive it.

Maam Eva Eshyati — Will Certainly Come to Me

The promise is unequivocal: asanshayah — without any doubt. One who spreads this knowledge among sincere seekers will attain Krishna. There is no ambiguity, no condition. The act of sharing divine wisdom with those ready to receive it is so pleasing to the Lord that liberation is guaranteed.

The Teacher as Devotee

This verse establishes a sacred chain: Krishna teaches Arjuna, Arjuna (and those like him) teach others, and the teaching flows from heart to heart across generations. Every sincere teacher of the Gita participates in this lineage of grace. The teacher does not merely transmit information — they perform an act of supreme devotion.

This is also why the Bhaktivedanta tradition places such emphasis on the guru-parampara, the disciplic succession of teachers. The Gita is not meant to remain a private treasure. It is meant to be shared — but shared with love, among those who are ready.
